Is the bottom signed?
Pots are required to be signed either with your branded stamp/signature or your first and last name. Unsigned pots or those with initials only will not be fired.
Is it clean?
Glaze should be completely removed from the bottom, and at least 1/8 inch up the wall to prevent it from sticking to the kiln shelf. If not, your pot will not be fired.
Does it need a kiln cookie?
If you used a "runny glaze" or layered glazes together we recommend using a kiln cookie, or small plate, underneath your pot to prevent it from sticking to the kiln shelf in case the glaze runs. Cookies should not exceed 1/2 inch on each side of the piece. If it does, the weight of the cookie should be included in the weight of the total piece to account for the extra room it is taking in the kiln.
No stacking
Stacked glazed pots will fuse together in the firing.
To place your order
- Weigh your first piece and round up to the nearest pound
- Select the weight of your first piece
- Add to cart
- Repeat for additional pots for this glaze firing
Put on Shelf
- Measure your piece against the kiln posts. Your piece should fit under the shortest possible post by at least 1/4 inch.
- Place your pot in the next available spot, making rows from back to front, starting from the right side of the shelf to the left
Pots will be loaded into the kiln based on their placement on the shelf. First come first served. Pots that need to be fired to keep on pace for weekly classes will be prioritized. If your pot doesn't make it into this firing due to space constraints it will be prioritized for the next firing.
We glaze fire to cone 5 with a 20 minute hold, resulting an average cone 6 firing. Temperatures vary depending on where the pot is located within the kiln.
