Looking to learn how to throw on the pottery wheel or keep building on your skills? This 4-week pottery wheel class is designed for beginners and returning students alike (ages 12-adult). Each session gives you hands-on instruction in throwing, trimming and glazing your pottery.

Because this is a repeatable class, students can progress at their own pace - whether it's your very first time on the wheel or you're ready to refine your technique and take on more challenging projects.

1st Time Students & Beginners

We will guide you in learning the basics for each of the three phases clay pots must go through: throwing, trimming & glazing.

Learning to throw on the pottery wheel takes lots of practice and a willingness to make mistakes! All 1st time students and beginners will need to build the necessary skills to be able to independently throw a cylinder measuring 3 inches wide by 4 inches tall with 1.5 lbs of clay before moving on to the themed project of the month. This cylindrical shape can be made into a mug with the addition of a handle!

January Themed Project | Valentine's Day Vase with Carved Designs

Create an elegant carved vase that will be ready to use for one of the biggest floral holidays of the year - Valentine's Day!

During the first class, students will focus on throwing their vase forms on the wheel, learning techniques to create tall, curved vessels. In the second class, students will trim their pots and map out their sgraffito designs. In the third class, they'll carve out their designs (a technique called sgraffito). The final class will be dedicated to glazing.
