Intermediate Pottery Wheel

Class Description

This weekly class is designed to give students aged 13-adult project-based intermediate level pottery wheel instruction. This class is designed to be repeated, allowing students to deepen their throwing, trimming, and surface decoration skills. 

Each class has a specific project theme intended to grow skill in a particular set of techniques. 

The prerequisite for the Intermediate Pottery Wheel Class is the ability to do the following skills: 

• Throw an even-walled cylinder that is 3 inches wide by 4 inches tall with 1.5 lbs of clay
• Know how to trim a flat bottom and raised foot ring
• Know how to make handles by slab, by coil, and by pulling
• Know the basics of glazing

What's Included

• 2-hours of instruction weekly
• Small class size of up to 8 people
• 25 lbs of clay
• Bisque firing, glaze firing and glaze for 2 pieces
• Shared shelf storage for the duration of the class
• Unlimited access to Open Studio to practice skills between classes

Make Up Policy

Students must notify the studio in advance via email if they are unable to attend a class. If space allows in another class time slot, a make-up class will be offered. If no space is available in another class, the student can make up studio time during Open Studio, with limited to no instruction. Credits and refunds are not provided for missed classes.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made 8 days or more in advance will be fully refunded. Cancellations made 7 days or less prior to the class start date are non-refundable.

Studio members receive 20% off classes with code MEMBER-CL

$10 discount on each registration if paying with cash or zelle.

Cash payment must be received within 7 days of registration or enrollment will be cancelled and spot(s) opened up to someone else. Cash can be dropped off at the studio during any Open Studio time. Zelle payment can be sent to jacqueline@gratefulclay.com.
