Family Pottery Wheel

Class Description

Get the family together for a fun bonding experience at the pottery studio! No prior experience needed for this 2-hour introduction to working on the pottery wheel specifically designed for families. We focus on creating a fun and memorable experience as we slowly walk through each step of the process.

We start with a behind-the-scenes tour of the pottery studio before moving on to the basics of how to prepare the clay with a technique called wedging. This process will set us up for success once we jump onto the wheel! After preparing our clay, the instructor will provide a demonstration of the five main steps we go through when throwing a piece of pottery on the wheel. Students will then be guided step-by-step through each skill, and provided hands-on-corrections as needed. 

Each student will be provided 3 x 1 lb balls of clay to practice with throughout the class.

Finished pots are usually ready for pick up within 3-6 weeks of the class. Pots must be picked up within 30 days of completion. Shipping can be arranged for an additional fee.

• 3 x 1.5 lb balls of white clay to practice with during class
  
• Bisque firing, glaze firing and glaze for 1 piece
• Option to return within 30 days of your pottery being bisque fired to paint your own pottery, or to have the studio glaze your pot for you.
• 10% discount on any pottery purchases from the gallery

Extras

• Pieces can be fired and glazed at a rate of $10/piece for dip-glazed pieces and $15/piece for brush-glazed pieces. 
• Pieces can be shipped upon completion for a flat rate of $12/box. 
  

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made 8 days or more in advance will be fully refunded. Cancellations made 7 days or less prior to the class start date are non-refundable. 

Schedule a Private Pottery Class!

Have a group of friends or family who want to take this class with you? Contact us for availability to schedule a private group class! 2-hour family private pottery wheel classes are $480 and include 2-6 people. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to save the date. Up to 2 additional guests can be invited for $80 per person for a total guest count of 8. Discounts available for paying via cash.

$5 discount on each registration if paying with cash or zelle.

Cash payment must be received within 7 days of registration or enrollment will be cancelled and spot(s) opened up to someone else. Cash can be dropped off at the studio during any Open Studio time. Zelle payment can be sent to jacqueline@gratefulclay.com.
